Earnings decline at Cass Information Systems

Bridgeton-based Cass Information Systems Inc. reported a decline in second-quarter earnings due to the world’s ongoing financial struggles. The company reported earnings of $3.66 million, or 39 cents a share, compared with earnings of $4.57 million, or 48 cents a share, during the same quarter a year ago.
For the first half of the year, the company reported earnings of $7.58 million, or 81 cents a share, compared with $8 affordable life insurance.59 million, or 91 cents a share, a year earlier.
The company, which provides invoice payment and information services for the transportation, telecom and utility industries, said economic troubles have affected the company despite its successes in bringing in new customers.
